Frustrated with felting

How do I felt by hand? I'm about to spend $4.75 on a download pattern that includes instructions on how to felt by hand in the sink. I have a front loading washing machine, and that's not so good for felting. (Great for washing clothes though!)

I tried a swatch, and it's drying in the sun as we speak. I'll take a pic in a few minutes here.

I've felted tons of bags in the washer but never by hand. There is lots of free info on the web about felting by hand - what you need is hot water, some type of agitation and soap - not detergent.

you can use hot hot water (wear gloves to protect your hands) and rub the heck out of the thing (like you would if you had a stain in something). I think that should give you, with time, felting you need. Use Woolite.
